U.S. News and World Report is releasing their list of 150 best places to live in the U.S. in 2023-2024.
Grand Rapids secured spot number 20 on the list.
Green Bay, Wisconsin earned the number one ranking.
Ann Arbor was the other Michigan city to make the top 50 on the list.
The metro areas had to have a high quality of life, strong job market and be a desirable place to live to make the list.
When determining quality of life for an area, the report looked at crime rates, well-being, quality of education, commuter index, air quality index, quality and availability of health care and Federal Emergency Management Agency National Risk Index.
The index determined desirability by comparing a survey with net migration, weather temperateness and establishments to population ratios.
The job market index compared the average salary in a city with the unemployment rate.
A value index looked at housing affordability and a price parity index.
