US-131 was shut down Friday morning after a milk tanker overturned and spilled milk onto the roadway.
The incident happened around 7:20 a.m. on northbound US-131 near Wealthy Street.
Officials say because some fuel spilled and the amount of milk that spilled, the incident was considered a hazmat situation.
Michigan State Police say milk cannot be washed off the roadways as it can be toxic to fish in the water system.
