Grand Rapids Public Schools is releasing a list of schools that could close in the coming years.
The district says the closures are due to a declining enrollment and hope the move would lead to an overall better experience for students.
The list of schools that could be closing includes:
- East Leonard Elementary
- Southeast Career Pathways
- Stocking Elementary
- North Park Early Childhood Center at Wellerwood
- Sherwood Park Global Studies Academy
- Grand Rapids Montessori Academy
- Palmer Elementary
- Brookside Elementary
- Westwood Middle School\
- Aberdeen Academy
Officials say the school closures would not lead to any lay offs.
