GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Patrick Lyoya's family is attempting to get the city of Grand Rapids added back to their civil lawsuit.
A judge decided in August to remove the city, saying that Lyoya family attorneys failed to demonstrate a connection between the officer-involved shooting that led to Christopher Schurr's termination and allegations that the city failed to properly train its officers.
The family's legal team also alleged racial discrimination.
