GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Kent County commissioners have approved the declaration of a local emergency as a result of last Thursday's storm.
Officials have surveyed damage at more than 170 buildings, including five that were destroyed.
Areas that were directly impacted by a tornado are still being assessed.
