Grand Rapids Public Schools will have a half day on Thursday due to the heat.
The district is also cancelling all afternoon and evening activities.
Superintendent Leadriane Roby says temperatures will be too warm in some of the buildings in the afternoon which causes safety concerns.
Officials say not all classrooms in the district have air conditioning.
