Two new ordinances crack down on panhandling in GR

Two new ordinances will go into effect on Thursday that crack down on aggressive panhandling in Grand Rapids.

The ordinances outlaw panhandling near ATMs, outdoor restaurants and bus stops.

The new measures also limit the amount of property that can be left in public places like parks, parking ramps, sidewalks and right of ways.

Officials say they won't begin seize property or make arrests immediately and they will work to remedy situations and deescalate interactions.
