GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Lake Michigan Carferry is shutting down the SS Badger until next year for emergency repairs.
Those who have reservations will receive full refunds.
The ship's ramp system was damaged last month by a failed counterweight structure on her port side. It must now must be cleared and rebuilt.
The vessel, which was constructed in 1953, transports vehicles between Ludington and Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It has been designated a National Historic Landmark.
