Consumers Energy is warning of a new scam that is targeting their customers.
Media relations manager Brian Wheeler says the scammers are setting up webpages and phone numbers to try to trick people into contacting them instead of the typical scammers reaching out to potential victims.
Wheeler says the scammers are counting on people not realizing they are not calling the company's phone number and then tricking them into making payments.
Customers should contact the company if they believe they paid a scammer.
