KPS board of trustees selects next superintendent

Kalamazoo Public Schools have unanimously voted to select Darrin Slade as the new superintendent for the district.

Following a series of interviews, the KPS board of trustees narrowed down their list to three finalists and made their decision to hire Slade.

His experience in administration and instruction include 16 years of primary and secondary leadership for the District of Columbia Public Schools as well as serving as the deputy superintendent for a Missouri school district.

Slade's hiring marks him as the first Black man to serve in this position for the KPS district.
