West Ottawa Public School is raising salaries for first year teachers.
Starting pay for a first-year teacher with West Ottawa is currently around $42,000.
The district is now rolling out the 50k Project, which will bump starting teacher pay to a minimum of $50,000.
The plan also includes additional pay for all teaching staff will a focus on teachers in the early stages of their careers.
