Allegan begins downtown transformation project

The city of Allegan is breaking ground on a project that will transform the downtown area.

City Manager Joel Dye says there is a lot of energy in the area currently.

The project will include new sewer lines, water mains, sidewalks, benches, bike rack and more.

The city of Allegan has not been fully reconstructed in more than 70 years.

The project is expected to take two years to complete.
