Meijer says the Flashfood program is now expanding to allow Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program shoppers to purchase food in the program with their EBT cards.
Flashfood is an effort for stores to reduce waste by selling food near its sell-by date at a discount.
Meijer President and CEO Rick Keyes says this is another way Meijer is providing extra value to the customers who need it most.
Flashfood selection varies by store and can be found by downloading the Flashfood app.
