GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - The Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education made a pair of recommendations on facilities during last night's meeting.
The board recommended to knock down a 100-year-old former high school on Kensington Avenue.
Board members also opted to divest from Alexander Elementary School, which has been closed for more than a decade.
"What are some other uses (for that building), whether it be through housing, through parks, community centers and such?” Superintendent Leadriane Roby told WOOD-TV.
Roby also said the board is thinking about closing other schools.
District enrollment in Grand Rapids has dropped 26 percent since 2008.
