Michigan recorded record turnout for 2022 midterm

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says more than 4.5 million people voted in the November 8 election in Michigan.

Around 1.8 million of those ballots were cast as absentee.

Benson says turnout breaks the midterm record that was set in 2018 with 4.3 million voters.

Kent County saw a total turnout of 59 percent.
