GR fire dept. getting $2M from Feds for hiring

The Grand Rapids Fire Department is receiving over $2 million from the federal government to help with staffing.

The funding is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant.

The funding will allow the department to hire eight firefighters for three years.

GRFD will begin recruit training in January.
