BHSH Spectrum Health West Michigan is receiving an $8.8 million grant from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust for a telerobotic project to improve cardiovascular care in rural areas.
The health system says the funding will help cardiac catheterization labs establish robotic-assisted coronary programs.
Spectrum says they have successfully integrated the programming into their own practice.
Helmsley trustee Walter Panzirer said in a release that robotics can improve patient outcomes and extend a doctor's ability to practice medicine.
