The Ionia County Sheriff's Office is investigating a new kind of scam where the caller tells victims their employer is being investigated.
Scammers will tell a victim to buy a MoneyPak or Green Dot card and give them information to pay for 'bond'.
The sheriff's department posted on Facebook saying once the money is gone it is difficult for police to track as the scams originate overseas.
The department says to hang up if you receive a call and call your local police department with any concerns.
