IONIA (WOOD-AM) - Sheriff's deputies in Ionia County are investigating after a man told them he was assaulted on a trail.
The man said it happened on Rail Trail west of Ionia near Mile Marker 127.
The sheriff's office says he suffered a "serious injury," but initially rejected medical help. He was sent home after stops at hospitals in Lansing and Ann Arbor.
A suspect has been identified, but a name has yet to be released.
