Play structure torn down due to safety concerns

A playground structure in Margaret Drake Elliott Park in Muskegon is being torn down.

Crews began demolition of the structure after an inspection found major safety concerns.

The inspection found the play equipment was outdated and posed a risk of kids' heads or neck getting stuck in the bars.

A structure in McGraft Park is also being removed due to safety concerns.

The city says the park will be restored to its natural state while a decision is made on a possible new structure.
