Governor Whitmer is signing a bill to dedicate part of the highway in Kalamazoo to Sergeant Ryan J. Proxmire.
Proxmire was killed in the line of duty eleven months ago.
House Bill 5720 is renaming the section of US-131 from West U Avenue to mile marker 35 as Sergeant Ryan J. Proxmire Memorial Highway.
The cost of adding the memorial signs has been paid for by donations.
