RUTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. - The Barry County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a crash near Hasting left one man dead.
The crash happed when a pickup truck was heading north on M-43 when it rear-ended a Michigan Department of Transportation truck that was pulling a trailer.
The pickup driver, 76-year-old Roland Ferris, continued to head northbound, but failed to follow a curve north of Tillotson Lake Road. The truck left the roadway, continuing several hundred feet until it struck several trees.
Ferris was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, while the crash remains under investigation.
