Kent County Prosecutor now has Patrick Lyoya case

Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker now has the Michigan State Police investigation into the officer involved shooting death of 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya on April 4.

MSP detectives say they gave Becker the report on Thursday however, they noted the report is awaiting forensic information on the officer's taser and body camera.

Becker says the report is currently incomplete, and he needs the forensic information before he makes a decision.

Becker will decide is Officer Chris Schurr was justified in shooting Lyoya or if charges should be issued.

There is no timeline on when the next steps could be taken.
