PRAIRIEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The National Weather Service confirmed Sunday that an EF-0 tornado was on the ground near Hickory Corners for about two minutes during Saturday night's storm.
The tornado touched down at 7:08 p.m. on the northwest side of Little Long Lake in Prairieville Township, just north of the Barry-Kalamazoo county line, according to a preliminary report from the NWS. It traveled less than half a mile, tracking northwest, before lifting off at 7:10 p.m.
With estimated peak winds of 75 mph, it cut a path up to 100 yards wide. The winds snapped trees and limbs, dumping some onto vehicles and homes.
The NWS also confirmed another tornado touched down around 7:45 p.m. about 4.5 miles southeast of Morley in Mecosta County.
