GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — State health officials released updated fish eating guidelines for two lakes in Kent County that tested positive for mercury.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has issued “Eat Safe Fish” guidelines for fish caught from Bostwick Lake in Cannon Township and Myers Lake in Courtland Township. The fish in these lakes were tested as part of the state’s investigation into PFAS contamination.
While testing for the likely carcinogen, the fish were tested for mercury. Results from fish in both Bostwick and Myers lakes showed elevated levels of mercury.
