Ken Holland is staying on through the 2017-18 season with the Red Wings under the terms of a new four-year deal, the team said Thursday.

The 58-year-old Holland served as the Red Wing's general manager for the past 17 seasons. Team owner Mike Ilitch said the new four-year deal is a testament to Holland's success.

"Ken is regarded as one of the premier executives in the National Hockey League and has been instrumental in the success of the Red Wings over the last two decades," he said in a statement.

Holland has lead the Red Wings to 746 regular season and 115 post-season victories since taking the helm in 1997, more than any other NHL team.

Holland was involved with the coaching staff for Stanley Cup championships in Detroit.
