Police say man smashed TVs and glass doors on display cases at Walmart

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A 25-year-old man faces formal charges for causing thousands of dollars in damages at a Walmart store last Friday evening.

It happened around 6:30 in Holland Township at the store in the 2200 block of North Park Drive near the US-31/Lakewood Boulevard interchange.

Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies said the Grand Haven Township man destroyed six TVs after pulling them from shelves, and then took a metal pole to 17 glass doors on display cases and to some coolers.

His name had not been released at the time of this report. That is because he was awaiting formal charges (arraignment).

"The damage is still being totaled but is expected to be thousands of dollars. No shoppers or employees were injured or threatened during the rampage, however, numerous customers, including children were in the store at the time," the OCSO said in a news release.

The Sheriff's Office is still investigating and asks anyone with information to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT (745368) or mosotips.com.
