KCSO: Shooting victim in Cutlerville dies; suspect taken into custody

BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A 36-year-old man has died from a gunshot wound in the Camelot Manor mobile home park yesterday in Cutlerville.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office says Jeffrey Gamble of Byron Township underwent surgery after the shooting but later died. Deputies arrested an 18-year-old man after responding to the park off Division Avenue between M-6 and 60th Street around 5:40 p.m.

They say the suspect ran from the scene on North Harewood Drive but was caught a short time later, with the assistance of drones a K-9 unit. Detectives say the suspect and victim lived in the same residence and knew each other for years. Charges are pending.

The KCSO added in a news release:

"Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The case will be reviewed by the Kent County Prosecutors Office. We extend our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
