Celebration Cinema to open a 'C Premium' theatre at Studio Park next month

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Celebration Cinema is installing a "C Premium" auditorium to its Studio Park movie venue in downtown Grand Rapids.

"C Premium" came to Celebration Cinema South in Gaines Township last spring. It features Dolby Atmos sound, 4-K laser project and heated recliner chairs.

Emily Loeks is Celebration Cinema's director of Public Relations & Community Affairs. She says the "C Premium" experience will be coming to Studio Park's Theatre One, which is West Michigan's largest auditorium. The installation will be complete in time for the showing of "Captain America: Brave New World," which opens on February 13th.

Here are more details from a Studio C news release:

Celebration Cinema is pleased to announce that C Premium is coming to Studio Park! First introduced at Celebration Cinema Grand Rapids South, C Premium is loved for its three main attributes: Dolby Atmos sound, 4K laser projection and heated recliners.

Studio Park’s Theatre One, currently West Michigan’s largest auditorium, will be re-outfitted beginning next week. The installation will be complete on time for CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD, opening on February 13th! Tickets to C Premium showtimes will be available for a $3 upcharge.

“Sound plays an incredible and under-recognized role in the movie-going experience,” says Emily Loeks. “Dolby Atmos has changed that. Some of our customers have been driving across town for the opportunity to be immersed in the soundscape of a film.”  The new system boasts a total of 43 surround speakers that wrap all the way to the back of the auditorium along the walls and ceiling. The speakers, coupled with additional surround subwoofers and subwoofers behind the screen, produce 10,000 watts of digital surround sound, offering listeners clarity and depth.

The Christie 4K Projector has a contrast of 6000:1, producing up to 30,000 lumens of brightness.  The projector’s wide color spectrum creates vivid on-screen images that will be brighter and crisper than a typical 2K projector.

Celebration Cinema’s customers have been so clear about their appreciation for the format that the circuit intends to roll out investments in C Premium auditoriums to each of its Michigan theatres over the next few years. “If you want to be swept up and transported into the story, C Premium theatres are designed for you,” says Loeks. “You’ll feel like you are inside the movie.”

Earlier this week, Todd Komarnicki (producer of ELF, writer of SULLY, and writer-producer-director of BONHOEFFER watched a movie in the Celebration Cinema theatres and "proclaimed them to be the ‘best in the country.’ He says his sample-size is very large!"
