WYOMING, Mich. -- The Wyoming Police Department is trying to correct some misinformation on social media regarding an evacuation Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a domestic dispute in which a man turned off the gas in a home near Buchanan Avenue and Maplelawn Street, north of 44th Street. Police say he threatened to cause an explosion, so they evacuated nearby homes, and D-T-E Energy and firefighters subsequently turned off the gas.
After several hours, the man exited the house peacefully. Contrary to some social media gossip, police say it was not a hostage situation.
Further details are not being disclosed by police at this time.
