HOLLAND, Mich. -- Police have taken one person into custody after a shots-fired incident Friday morning in Holland.
Public Safety officers there say they tried to pull the suspect's vehicle over on Michigan Avenue, but say it sped away and went through some stop signs and red lights. Police called off the pursuit within two minutes due to safety concerns.
It all began around 2:40 a.m. at the Meadow Lanes complex on Meadow Land Drive in Holland. A caller to Public Safety reported seeing a man wearing a red sweatshirt with a gun in the area of the office.
After the chase, Ottawa County Sheriff's Office deputies say they located the vehicle that had fled the scene at the corner of James Street and 136th Avenue in Holland Township, where it had crashed.
"A K9 track was conducted, leading to an address in Leisure Estates Trailer Park in Holland Township, but the suspects were not located," the OCSO said in a news release. "At the same time as the track was going on, a second vehicle was stopped in the area, and a gun was located in the car. One person was taken into custody and lodged at the (Ottawa County Jail) on weapons charges."
The Holland Police Department is still investigating the original call in the city.
