GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Mel Trotter Ministries really puts out a good spread - and for a good cause in downtown Grand Rapids.
Mel Trotter is hosting its annual free Christmas luncheon Wednesday. It will serve more than 300 adults and children, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Mel Trotter guests and Heartside community members can attend from noon to 1:15 p.m. After that, lunch will be served to Mel Trotter families who are staying there, as well as Grand Rapids residents in the Heartside neighborhood or who are experiencing hunger and homelessness.
Some of the food choices include: festive cranberry salad, meatballs in cranberry sauce, honey baked ham, beef pot roast, roasted chicken, scalloped potatoes, garlic and feta mashed potatoes, braised cabbage, desserts and beverages.
Mel Trotter Ministries said in a written statement:
his event is open to the Heartside community and other people in our city who are experiencing hunger and homelessness. No registration is required.
Mel Trotter Ministries is the largest provider of services to people experiencing homelessness in West Michigan, delivering meals, shelter, housing and health services to more than 5,000 people in 2024.
