REYNOLDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Montcalm County Sheriff's Office says a 14-year-old Howard City boy died at the scene after an All-Terrain Vehicle rolled on top of him.
It happened around 1:15 Monday afternoon on private property in Reynolds Township.
Deputies say he was traveling at a high rate of speed on a Polaris Ranger on property behind the family home when the A-T-V hit a pile of roofing trusses. The teenager was ejected, and the Ranger landed on top of him.
A family member spotted the situation sometime later and called emergency services. But it was too late.
The 14-year-old was a student in the Tri-County Schools. His name has not been released.
