MONTCALM TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Montcalm County Sheriff's investigators believe speeding was a factor in a collision between a semi-truck and a pickup truck.
It happened around 8:22 p.m. Tuesday on South Greenville Road south of West Spencer Road in Montcalm Township.
Investigators say a semi-tractor loaded with a loaded box trailer was backing into a driveway on the east side of Greenville Road, with the trailer extending across the northbound Lane. Deputies say the pickup truck was unable to stop and struck the side of the box trailer attached to the Peterbilt tractor. A 19-year-old McBride man was driving the pickup and he had a 19-year-old woman passenger. Both were driven by ambulance to Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi-tractor, a 32-year-old Greenville man, was not injured.
South Greenville Road was shut down by fire personnel for the investigation. The Sheriff's Office is still investigating the crash.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Montcalm County Central Dispatch, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Montcalm County Emergency Medical Services and the Montcalm Township Fire Department.
