GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - West Michigan continues to deal with a winter storm that impacted areas with heavy snow and gusty winds yesterday.
This morning, more than 200 school districts and organizations are closed, including the Grand Rapids Public Schools. A closure list can be found here.
Consumers Energy says thousands of its customers are currently without power following windy conditions yesterday. Spokesperson Tracy Wimmer says crews were staged and are now working to fix outages.
"When we see high gusts, in particular, that's usually a trigger for outages," Wimmer said.
Meanwhile, city, county and private snowplows have been working all night and will continue to work this morning.
The National Weather Service says a winter storm warning is currently expected to expire at 1 a.m.
