Guiding Light recovery organization announces Feb. 15 concert

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Tickets go on sale December 16 for a concert in Grand Rapids called Guiding Light Live.

The Guiding Light recovery team will host the event February 15 at St. Cecilia Music Center from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. They help adults recover from addiction and find employment and housing.

Dave Madiol is Guiding Light's director of Development & Communications. He told West Michigan's Morning News who will be performing at the concert.

"We're going to have some great folks. It's accoustic folk rock with the Rebel Eves, Ralston Bowles, Michael Crittenden, Kate Pillsbury from The Crane Wives, along with Joshua Davis from Up North," Madiol said.

There also will be a silent auction.

The Guiding Light Live will be presented by Fifth Third Bank and iHeart Media.

Guiding Light is a 100 percent donor-funded nonprofit organization. The website is GuidingLightWorks.org . December is a key time for fundraising at Guiding Light.

Its executive director, Brian Elve, was asked about the women's program that was launched in June.

"We're off to a great start," he said. "We had our first few women complete the program and complete the work process. We're really excited about that. We know there's a little more stigma with women saying they have a problem and looking for help. So, we're really glad we can offer that service to women."
