GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Authorities say the death of a missing 16-year-old whose body was found Friday in a wooded area near Rockford was due to an accidental drowning.
An autopsy has already been completed on the body of Cortez McConer Jr.
He had last been seen running from police with two friends from a McDonald's in Rockford.
“They ran into the woods," Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom told WOOD-TV. "His friend was actually arrested by the police and that’s the last time Cortez was seen."
