GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Grand Rapids Fire Department is inviting residents to help inform its next strategic plan.
The community can help shape the fiscal plan for years 2026 through 2028 by taking part in a fire service survey now through November 30. The input will help guide the fire department's operational blueprint after it is adopted by July 1, 2025. The survey hyperlink is posted below.
Here are more details from a City of Grand Rapids news release:
As part of this process, the GRFD is asking the community for its thoughts about its local fire service. Community members are invited to help shape the new Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-28 strategic plan by taking part in a fire service survey through November 30.
The survey, available at publicinput.com/fdstrategicplanning, lists questions probing the community’s perspective and experiences regarding the GRFD services. The department wants residents, neighborhoods and businesses to let it know through the survey about what it is doing well, what it could improve, and what it should consider doing differently.
“The new Fiscal Year (FY) 2026-28 strategic vision will outline how your Grand Rapids Fire Department operates and responds to the needs of the community,” Fire Chief Brad Brown said. “We operate with a continuous improvement mindset, understanding that there is always room for improvement. Our residents, through this survey, will give us a great understanding of how we can better serve the community over the next three years.”
The Fire Department plans to adopt and implement the new Strategic Plan by July 1, 2025.
