Police sting in human trafficking, prostitution results in arrests

WEST MICHIGAN -- The Mecosta County Sheriff's Office says a multi-jurisdictional human trafficking task force has arrested two Kent County men.

The sting was hosted by the sheriff's office.

It said the operation targeted consumers of human trafficking, sextortion and prostitution and took place in Rogers Heights and in Mecosta Township.

Investigators said 53-year-old Erik Lundquist of Comstock Park was arrested for solicitation and accosting someone younger than 16 years old, and for Operating While Intoxicated. And a 48-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested for soliciting people who are 18 and older.

His name will be released after he is formally charged. Police said Lundquist was released from the Mecosta County Jail on bond pending his next court appearance.

Sheriff Brian Miller said in a news release the task force was assisted by the Meceola Consolidated Central Dispatch Authority and Curries Towing.

"All decoys used in the operation were adults. No children were involved or harmed," Miller said.
