LANSING, Mich. -- Ottawa County has the state's fourth-lowest unemployment rate.
The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget has released statistics showing Ottawa's jobless rate in September was 3.3 percent, down half a percentage point from August. Kent County's jobless rate was 3.5 percent. Muskegon's unemployment rate fell half-a-point, as well, to 5.0 percent. Barry County had 3.6 percent unemployment, Ionia County 3.9, Newaygo County's was 4.2 percent.
Livingston County had the lowest September unemployment rate in Michigan at 3.0%, while Oscoda County had the highest rate at 7.2%. Overall, 77 Michigan counties saw their rates decrease from August to September.
