GRPD investigates triple shooting on Pastiche Drive - one person dead

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids Police say a triple shooting on the city's southeast side last night was a targeted attack, not a random one.

A woman was gunned down and two men were seriously injured in a possible drive-by. It occurred in the 900 block of Pastiche Drive just before 7 o'clock Thursday night. That is near Eastern Avenue and a few blocks south of 32nd Street.

A short time later, Police Chief Eric Winstrom told WOOD-TV at the scene that detectives were trying to figure out who fired the gunshots and why.

"We have a big footprint out here. You're going to see a lot of officers out here for a substantial amount of time," he told reporters moments after the incident. "A few hours, probably, as we really scour the area; talk to many witnesses. We've already talked to quite a few residents here of these apartment buildings."

Winstrom mentioned that an argument outside an apartment building led to the shootings. He added that a suspect drove away in a vehicle. Witnesses spoke to detectives afterward.

"A lot of cooperative people that are obviously disturbed by this. And a lot of family members who are absolutely devastated tonight," Winstrom said.

No names had been released at the time of public Friday morning.

Grand Rapids Police asked the public to come forward to help bring some justice.

"The investigation by the Major Case Team is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department or Silent Observer. Detectives can be reached at (616) 456-3380 or tips can be sent anonymously through Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345/ www.silentobserver.org."
