GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - Fat Boy is closing in Grand Rapids after being in business more than 70 years.
The restaurant on Plainfield Avenue, which is known for its burgers and classic neon sign, will close at the end of the month.
Owners say they have had a five-year struggle keep the place running, due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic, inflation, and road construction.
“It is with heartbreak that we write this post to tell you that we have come to the difficult decision to close Fat Boy Burgers,” the Urbane family said on Facebook.
The family purchased the restaurant more than a decade ago.
