Two people arrested for allegedly trying to buy Corvette with fake IDs

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Kent County Sheriff's Office says a 46-year-old Grand Rapids man and a 47-year-old Florida woman tried to buy a Corvette using fraudulent documents.

It happened last weekend at Kool Chevrolet in Plainfield Township.

Police said the dealership contacted the sheriff's office after noticing the suspicious activity. Deputies say they took Ingre Valerino and Brian Dykema into custody on charges of false pretenses, using a forged state identification card to commit a felony, and identity theft.

"KCSO is grateful for Kool Chevrolet's responsiveness and transparency which led to the arrest of Ms. Valerino and Mr. Dykema," the sheriff's said in a news release. "They are in the custody of the Kent County Correctional Facility on charges of false pretenses ($50,000 - $100,000), using a forged state identification card to commit a felony, and identity theft."

The KCSO Investigative Unit is still investigating the incident.
