COOPERSVILLE (WOOD-AM) - The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says a six-year-old boy who was riding a hoverboard was hurt after he was hit by a pickup in a motel parking lot in Coopersville.

It happened at the Rodeway Inn on O'Malley Drive around 7 p.m.

Sheriff's deputies say a 44-year-old Saginaw man was driving at an appropriate speed when the boy darted into the parking lot between parked vehicles.

The boy was learning how to ride the electric hoverboard and being watched by his older brother, deputies said.

The child is said to be in stable condition.
