iHeart Media, LMCU to raise funds for Kids' Food Basket

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- iHeart Media is teaming up with Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) to raise funds and awareness for Kids' Food Basket through the annual "Touchdowns for Kids" event this fall.

It's featured in partnership with 96.1 The Game and the 107 MUS High School Game of the Week.

Here are more details taken from a KFB news release. The game schedule is attached.

“LMCU is thrilled to again be teaming up with iHeart Media and Kids' Food Basket for Touchdowns for Kids this fall,” said Matt Cook, vice president of community relations for LMCU. “Supporting this program connects LMCU and our passion for impact in a unique and meaningful way with the work of Kids’ Food Basket and high school athletics.”

Last year’s campaign raised $5,450 toward increasing access to the healthy food all kids need to thrive, totaling $12,250 across the history of the campaign.

“At Kids’ Food Basket, $50 can support healthy evening meals for a child for an entire month,” said Tamara VanderArk-Potter, vice president of philanthropy at KFB. “This means that with every touchdown, West Michigan children win! We look forward to witnessing such talented students make an impact on and off the field each year.”

The campaign also aims to raise awareness about food insecurity in West Michigan while empowering the community to get involved.

"The need for food security in West Michigan for the kids in our communities continues to grow, and so our staff at 96-1-The Game & 107 MUS are proud to partner with Kids' Food Basket and Lake Michigan Credit Union for another year of the 'Touchdowns for Kids' program," said Bret Bakita, sports director of WMAX-FM & WOOD Radio. "And for me personally, I love watching high school student athletes perform, and through their efforts, they are directly helping kids!"

We will see you at kickoff for highly anticipated games across the region
