Four-vehicle pileup in Dalton Township sends two to hospital

DALTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A pickup truck driver and a garbage truck driver are in the hospital after a four-vehicle pile-up Monday morning in Muskegon County.

Michigan State Police said in a social-media post on 'X' that the pickup truck slammed into the back of the trash truck around 4 a.m. in Dalton Township. The crash propelled it into two other vehicles. The location was Holton Road at Rich Road.

Troopers from the Sixth District MSP post believe the pickup driver had fallen asleep at the wheel. The driver of the garbage truck was outside of the vehicle at the time of impact, and was hit by a couple vehicles after the initial crash.

The pickup and garbage truck drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries.

No one else was hurt.
