Voluntary recall of some cucumbers sold in Michigan expands

LANSING, Mich. -- Ohio-based Wiers Farm is expanding its recall of some whole and bagged salad cucumbers that were sold at some Walmart stores in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

The recall first began on July 12th and has been expanded to include additional produce. No illnesses have been reported, but the F-D-A says there are concerns that some may be contaminated with listeria, which can lead to listeriosis and cause a serious infection - and, in rare cases, death.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture was the first agency to report the matter.
