WEST OLIVE, Mich. -- The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office will hold a class July 16th to discuss strategies for surviving an active shooter event.
There is no cost to attend the "Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events" class, but registration is required. It will get underway at 6 p.m. in the main conference room of the Fillmore Center in West Olive, 12220 Fillmore St.
In an online post, the Sheriff's Office poses this question to citizens:
"Though we hope you are never faced with the situation, would you know what to do in the case of an active shooter? Doing the right things can increase your odds of getting through alive."
