GRPD seeking tips in shooting death of Amillier Penn

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids Police detectives are seeking tips from the public concerning the murder case of Amillier Penn.

The 15-year-old was gunned down while playing football on Umatilla Street near Madison Avenue on June 2.

Silent Observer [(616) 774-2345] has offered a 32-hundred-dollar reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the case. Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom says even seemingly small details may help them crack the case. In particular, detectives would like to speak with the driver and passenger of an Enterprise truck that was seen on dashcam footage around the time of the shooting.

“Many people were outside enjoying the warm weather when Amillier was shot to death,” Winstrom said. “We have already interviewed a number of witnesses but are asking for anyone who may have seen or heard something related to this tragic murder to come forward. Even seemingly small details can advance this case and help GRPD bring justice for Amillier and his family.”
