PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker says his office has filed charges against the 24-year-old suspect in a break-in and stabbing in Plainfield Township.
Kent County Sheriff's investigators say the Plainfield Township man broke into the home early Saturday morning and stabbed an 11-year-old girl repeatedly. She is in stable condition now. The homeowner held the attacker at gunpoint until police arrived.
Becker says 24-year-old Ricardo Perez Castillo as been charged with one count of assault with intent to murder, one count of home invasion 1st degree, one count of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct involving penetration.
Kent County Undersheriff Bryan Muir says the 11-year-old was staying at a friend's house when the attack occurred. The girls were asleep on the second floor when it happened. Police believe it was a random attack.
